Cephe 1945 British Propaganda Mag Turkish Turkey Allied Tanks WW2 era HMS Indefatigable Cologne
Cephe Magazine – “Allied Tanks and Forces Fighting Against Germany” – Series II, Issue No. 5 – March 1945 – Turkish Edition
Description:
Cephe was an important Turkish-language propaganda and information magazine published by Britain during the Second World War, with the aim of influencing public opinion in Turkey. Published continuously from January 1943 to April 1947, the magazine was printed in Cairo, Egypt, and distributed in Turkey with the official permission of the Turkish government. It appeared twice a month in a large-format edition measuring approximately 26 × 40 cm. At a time when paper shortages were widespread in Turkey, Cephe stood out for its high-quality coated paper, vivid colour photographs and affordable cover price of just 20 kuruş. Through its richly illustrated pages, the magazine presented British military strength, society, culture and international developments to Turkish readers.
The cover of this March 1945 issue, Series II, No. 5, features a black-and-white photograph of Allied tanks and military units engaged in operations against German forces. The image captures the armoured formations and military activity on the European front during the final stages of the war.
The interior pages cover a wide range of military, political, industrial and cultural subjects. Articles examine military operations against Germany under the theme of “War Dragons”, the Yalta Conference and the Cairo talks, the capture of Cologne and the Battle of the Rhine. Further reports follow supply convoys reaching China and the Pacific offensive operations of Britain's newest aircraft carrier, HMS Indefatigable. The issue also explores the visit of a Turkish railway delegation to Britain, including inspections of locomotive factories, and presents an overview of the British railway network under the feature title “Steel Networks”. Other subjects include meteorological stations in polar regions and the film “Caesar and Cleopatra”, adapted from the work of George Bernard Shaw.
