Headbang Magazine – “Judas Priest” – July 2008 – Turkish Edition

Description:

Headbang was one of Turkey’s leading rock and heavy metal magazines, playing an important role in the development of the country’s metal scene and culture. First published in March 2007 as a free monthly supplement to Blue Jean magazine, it featured interviews with international and Turkish bands, album and concert reviews, music history articles, and collectible posters. Its publication run continued until September 2020.

This Turkish-language issue, dated July 2008, features legendary British heavy metal band Judas Priest on the cover. The magazine’s “Hell Mail” section announces news about Volbeat’s upcoming album, Sakatat’s Eastern European tour, and Alice Cooper’s return with his 25th album, Along Came a Spider. Other features trace Def Leppard’s journey from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) scene to American success, including drummer Rick Allen’s determination following the accident that cost him his arm. An interview with David Coverdale explores Whitesnake’s album Good to Be Bad and the band’s Istanbul concert, while Haggard frontman Asis Nasseri discusses symphonic metal and the album Tales of Ithiria.

Further coverage examines Mötley Crüe’s turbulent history and their album Saints of Los Angeles, alongside an interview with Napalm Death about their grindcore sound and political outlook. The issue also presents a critical analysis of racist and militaristic tendencies within the rock and metal scene. Combining classic heavy metal, contemporary album news, interviews, and social commentary, this issue offers a snapshot of the international metal scene as covered by a Turkish publication in 2008.
