Title: Ottoman Tapu (Deed) - Agricultural Land & Garden, Ayasu Nahiyesi, İpboz Village, Midilli (1887)

Description:
An original Ottoman property deed (tapu) dated 5 Recep 1304 AH (30 March 1887 CE), concerning a parcel of land located in İpboz village, Ayasu nahiyesi, Midilli (Lesvos, Greece).

The deed describes the property as a combined field and garden, bordered by İşrana land and a road. The size is recorded in both old and new Ottoman land measures, amounting to 6 dönüm 1200 zira-i atik, 2 dönüm 15 evlek, 24 arşun, 47 kirah, and 68 parmak-ı cedid—a rare survival showing detailed measurement practices of the period.

The property originally belonged to Vasil Diranyadi (or Viranyadi), an Ottoman Greek subject (teba-i Devleti Aliyye). Following his death, it was inherited by his daughter Sofya. The official value of the estate was set at 5500 kuruş.

Of particular note, the reverse side of the deed contains Greek-language names and signatures, providing evidence of the multicultural and multilingual environment of the late Ottoman Aegean provinces.

The tapu is printed on high-quality, thick, watermarked paper (filigranlı), characteristic of official Ottoman deeds, ensuring durability and authenticity.
