Ottoman Property Deed – Field in Karaağaç, Saruhan (Manisa), 1911

Description:
This Ottoman deed, dated December 14, 1911, records the sale of a 9 dönüm field in Karaağaç, part of the Saruhan (modern Manisa) region of western Anatolia. The land had belonged to Naim Efendi, a watchmaker (saatçi), who had died some fifteen years earlier without possessing a registered deed. His widow, Behiye Hanım, inherited the property and later sold it to Musa, son of Mehmed Ali Bey and grandson of Hacı Abdullah Efendi from Küçük Emir Ağa Mahallesi, for 1,000 kuruş.

This document is not only a legal record but also a rich artifact of local social and economic history, reflecting inheritance practices, neighborhood identity, and the networks of notable families. The deed itself bears a revenue stamp (pûl) along with numerous official seals, enhancing both its authenticity and collector’s value.
