Ottoman Property Deed – House in Kilis (Aleppo Sanjak), 1913

Description:
This Ottoman property deed, dated December 3, 1913, records the sale of a residential house in the Kilis district of the Aleppo Sanjak. The house originally belonged to Son of Çemçük Sergeant Mehmed, who sold it for 5,000 kuruş to the sons of Sarılı Mehmed Sergeant from Okçuyan Quarter Hasan, Durmuş, and Ali.

The document provides clear boundary descriptions, listing neighboring owners such as Cafer, Halid, and Fethi Mehmed, son of Kadir Bey, alongside the road to the north. Such deeds are highly valuable to collectors as they illustrate the detailed system of urban property registration in the late Ottoman Empire and capture the family and neighborhood networks that defined city life in Kilis on the eve of the First World War. The presence of a revenue stamp (pûl) enhances both its authenticity and historical appeal.
