Ottoman 1922 Land Deed Agricultural Land in Kilis Türkman Title Watermarked Papierfabrik Sacrau
Ottoman Deed – Shared Agricultural Land (Anez Village, Türkman Nahiyesi, Kilis / Ayıntab Livası), 1922
Description:
This original Ottoman deed, dated 23 Teşrin-i Evvel 1338 (23 October 1922), records the ownership of a large agricultural field in Anez Village, Türkman Nahiyesi, Kilis district, Ayıntab Livası (modern Gaziantep).
The property consists of 160 dönüms of land, of which this deed documents 54 shares out of 160 (160 sehimde 54 sehim). The land originally belonged to Bedir Oğlu Mustafa bin Ömer Ağa.
According to the deed’s statement, the shares were transferred through a “ferağ” transaction (a legal process of relinquishing and reassigning property rights) by the heirs of Bedir Oğlu Ömer and Mehmed in favor of Mustafa Ağa, consolidating the property under his name.
The deed is particularly significant as one of the last Ottoman deeds issued before the establishment of the Turkish Republic, with the nationality field still recorded as “Osmaniye” (Ottoman)
It is written on watermarked Papierfabrik Sacrau paper and bears Ottoman fiscal stamps and seals. On the reverse side, later Latin-script Turkish notes were added, indicating that the field was mortgaged to a bank.
