Resimli Tarih Mecmuası – Bound Hardcover Volume, Issues No. 13–24 – January–December 1951 – Turkish Edition

Description:

Resimli Tarih Mecmuası was a popular Turkish historical magazine launched in Istanbul in January 1950 under the editorial direction of Mithat Sertoğlu. Published monthly, the magazine focused on Ottoman history, Turkish-Islamic civilisation, world history, military victories and biographies of important historical figures. Its articles were richly illustrated with historical photographs, miniatures, engravings and archival materials, presenting historical subjects in an accessible and visually engaging format.

This collection comprises twelve consecutive issues, from No. 13 (January 1951) to No. 24 (December 1951), all professionally gathered into a single hardcover bound volume. Bringing together an entire year's publication, this volume offers a substantial collection of historical articles, serialised features and visual archival material from one of Turkey's notable popular history magazines of the early 1950s.

The contents explore important figures and events from Turkish and Ottoman history. Among the subjects covered are Turgut Reis and his naval achievements, the Defence of Shkodër (İşkodra Müdafaası), allegations concerning the suicide of Sultan Abdülaziz, and the life and reign of Sultan Mehmed V Reşad. The volume also includes articles by Sermet Muhtar Alus on women's clothing during the reign of Abdülhamid II, accounts of the final days of Sultan Abdülhamid II, and features on Sheikh Shamil and the struggles in the Caucasus. Together, these contributions provide an extensive illustrated overview of Ottoman history, military heritage and historical personalities.
