Tintin – Land of Black Gold mid 1980s Turkish Edition Comic Turkey 2
Tintin – Land of Black Gold – Turkish Edition (Softcover, Black & White, Alfa Yayınları, Mid-1980s)
Description:
This Turkish edition of Land of Black Gold (Siyah Altın), one of the most politically charged and adventure-driven stories in Hergé’s Tintin series, was published by Alfa Yayınları as part of its second Tintin series in the mid-1980s. Founded in 1978 by Ali Recan, Alfa Yayınları was instrumental in bringing Tintin to Turkish readers, beginning publication in 1980 and continuing with multiple Tintin series throughout the decade.
The comic is issued in softcover format and printed entirely in black and white. This was a cost-driven production decision rather than an artistic one. Since original Tintin albums had been published in full color internationally from 1941 onward, color printing in Turkey would have significantly increased production costs. To make the series economically viable, Alfa Yayınları reproduced the artwork in black and white, resulting in editions that today stand as representative examples of Turkish comic publishing practices of the 1980s.
This volume is Book Number 12 of Alfa Yayınları’s second Tintin series, marking the final book of the series. As such, it holds particular importance for collectors aiming to complete the full mid-1980s Alfa Yayınları Tintin run. A notable collectible detail of this edition is the presence, at the end of the book, of publisher advertisements for Captain America.
