Tintin – Prisoners of the Sun – Turkish Edition (Softcover, Black & White, Alfa Yayınları, Mid-1980s)

Description:

This Turkish edition of Prisoners of the Sun (Güneş Tutsakları), one of the most dramatic and exotic adventures in Hergé’s Tintin series, was published by Alfa Yayınları as part of its second Tintin series in the mid-1980s. Alfa Yayınları, founded in 1978 by Ali Recan, became one of the most important publishers of Tintin in Turkey, releasing multiple Tintin series throughout the 1980s after beginning publication in 1980.

The comic is issued in a softcover format and printed entirely in black and white. This was not an artistic choice but a practical one driven by economic constraints. Since original Tintin albums had been published in full color internationally from 1941 onward, producing color editions in Turkey would have significantly increased printing costs. To keep the books affordable, Alfa Yayınları reproduced the artwork in black and white, resulting in editions that today reflect the realities of Turkish comic publishing during the period.

This volume is Book Number 11 of Alfa Yayınları’s second Tintin series, completing the later part of the series. As such, it represents an important piece for collectors seeking to assemble the full mid-1980s Alfa Yayınları Tintin run.
