Tintin – The Castafiore Emerald mid 1980s Turkish Edition Comic Turkey 2
Tintin – The Castafiore Emerald – Turkish Edition (Çalınan Elmaslar, Softcover, Black & White, Alfa Yayınları, Mid-1980s)
Description:
This Turkish edition of The Castafiore Emerald, published under the Turkish title Çalınan Elmaslar, is one of the most character-driven and unconventional stories in Hergé’s Tintin series. It was released by Alfa Yayınları as part of its second Tintin series during the mid-1980s. Founded in 1978 by Ali Recan, Alfa Yayınları played a key role in introducing and sustaining Tintin’s popularity in Turkey, beginning publication in 1980 and continuing with multiple series throughout the decade.
The comic is presented in softcover format and printed entirely in black and white. This approach was dictated by economic realities rather than artistic choice. Since original Tintin albums had been published in full color internationally from 1941 onward, producing color editions in Turkey would have required significantly higher printing costs. To keep production affordable, Alfa Yayınları reproduced the artwork in black and white, resulting in editions that today reflect the unique conditions of Turkish comic publishing in the 1980s.
This volume is Book Number 18 of Alfa Yayınları’s second Tintin series. An additional point of interest for collectors is the advertisement for the Thor comic, published by Alfa Yayınları, which appears on the back cover. Such publisher advertisements add historical context and enhance the collectible value of this edition.
