Armenian Musicians 1936 Classical Music Concert Program Casa d’Italia İstanbul Armenia Italy
Classical Music Concert Program – Casa d’Italia (Istituto Italiano di Cultura), Istanbul, 1936
Description:
This is an original concert program dated 2 February 1936, from a classical music performance held at Casa d’Italia (Istituto Italiano di Cultura) in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. The venue, designed in 1867 by architect Alexandre Breschi, remains in use today as a cultural center.
The concert was conducted by Koharik Karibyan, with A. Kalıpcıyan on piano and Y. Yerestan as tenor. The program lists the performed works and artists, and a remarkable detail is that most of the program features Armenian musicians and composers, reflecting the vibrant contribution of Istanbul’s Armenian community to the city’s musical life.
This concert program is not only a record of Istanbul’s early Republican-era cultural activities but also a rare example of Italian–Armenian collaboration in the field of classical music.
