Asterix – Asterix in Spain 80s Turkish Edition Comic Turkey
Asterix – “Şefin Oğlu” (Asterix in Spain) – Turkish Newspaper Giveaway Edition
Description:
This is a Turkish-language, softcover Asterix comic, distributed as a promotional giveaway with the Bulvar newspaper, sponsored by Akbank. Rather than being sold commercially, this edition was offered free to readers, making it a distinctive example of newspaper–bank–publisher collaborations common in Turkey during the early 1980s.
The Bulvar–Akbank Asterix series was published between 1983 and 1984 and consists of a total of 6 issues. Each issue includes one complete Asterix story, accompanied by several pages of puzzles and activities for children, reinforcing its role as both entertainment and family-oriented promotional material.
One of the most unusual and collectible aspects of this series is its mixed printing style: within the same issue, some consecutive pages are printed in black & white, while others are in full color. This irregular production choice is rarely seen in official Asterix editions and makes the series especially interesting for collectors of variant printings and localized editions.
Because this was a promotional newspaper giveaway, it was printed on thin, low-quality paper, significantly more fragile than standard album editions. For this reason, copies that have survived in good overall condition are difficult to find, adding to the collectible appeal of the series.
This particular issue is Issue No. 3 and features the story “Şefin Oğlu”, the Turkish edition of Asterix in Spain, presented as a complete story in softcover format adapted specifically for newspaper distribution.
