The map was published in 1927 within the first edition of “Nutuk” (The Great Speech) written by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founding leader of modern Turkey.
The Battle of Sakarya (August–September 1921) marked the final Greek offensive into Anatolia. Under Atatürk’s supreme command and İsmet İnönü’s leadership, Turkish forces achieved a major defensive victory along the Sakarya River, shifting the momentum of the war and paving the way for ultimate independence.
