Description:

This is Binbir Roman Issue No. 104, dated May 10, 1950. It is a  Turkish comic magazine series that emerged as the direct continuation of the highly influential 1001 Roman magazine which dominated the Turkish comic scene in the 1940s. Following a change in ownership, the title was preserved in spirit but altered in form “1001” was replaced with its word-based equivalent “Binbir”, marking a new phase in the publication’s history.

Binbir Roman was published between 1948 and 1952, reaching a total of 213 issues. While primarily a comic magazine, Binbir Roman also featured prose stories alongside its illustrated content, continuing the mixed-format tradition of its predecessor.

Issue No. 104 presents a diverse lineup of well-known international characters and genres. It includes Mandrake the Magician and Nat Pinkerton, alongside Gizli Vazife, a World War II–themed comic reflecting the era’s global tensions. Adventure and exotic narratives appear in Korsanlar Krali and Adalar Kraliçesi, while classic literature is represented through a comic adaptation of Victor Hugo’s novel Ninety-Three (93).
