Blondin et Cirage - Le nègre blanc 1970 Turkish Comic Turkey Jijé Yumurcak Mag #2
Yeni Yumurcak – Volume 2 – “Beyaz Zenci” (Blondin et Cirage - Le nègre blanc) – Turkish Edition (1970)
Description:
This comic is Volume 2 from the Yeni Yumurcak series, a Turkish children’s comic publication released in 1970 by Yaşar and Coşar Şilliler. The series was part of the Yeni Yumurcak Çocuk Dergisi, a weekly magazine published every Tuesday and aimed primarily at younger readers. In total, the series consisted of eight volumes issued during the same year.
Like many Turkish comic publications of the period, Yeni Yumurcak relied heavily on adapted material from European comics. The interior artwork was reproduced using tracing paper techniques, where the original drawings were carefully retraced and then printed in black and white. The source material was originally published in full color, and the Turkish adaptations often altered character names, locations, and dialogue rather than remaining strictly faithful to the original stories. As a result, these editions represent an interesting example of how international comics were localized for the Turkish market during the 1970s.
One of the most distinctive aspects of the series is its covers. Instead of reusing the original European artwork, the covers were newly illustrated by Turkish artists. Because of this, each volume features unique cover art created specifically for the Turkish edition, making these books particularly appealing to collectors interested in regional comic adaptations and alternative interpretations of classic characters.
While the later volumes of the series featured material from Belloy, the first five volumes of Yeni Yumurcak were dedicated to Blondin et Cirage, a Belgian comic series created by the renowned artist Jijé. Volume 2 presents the Turkish adaptation of the story “Le nègre blanc,” originally published as part of the Blondin et Cirage series. The comic follows the adventures of two close friends—Blondin and Cirage—one blond and the other Black, whose contrasting personalities and strong friendship drive the humor and adventure of the series.
Blondin et Cirage is a Belgian humoristic adventure comic that follows the two young protagonists as they travel across different places, encountering unusual characters, mysteries, and comedic situations along the way. Created by Jijé, one of the most influential figures in Franco-Belgian comics, the series holds an important place in early European comic history. For collectors, this Turkish adaptation represents a fascinating example of how classic European comics were reinterpreted and introduced to Turkish readers during the early decades of the country’s comic publishing scene.
