The character known in Turkey as Tommiks originates from the Italian comic series Capitan Miki, created by the renowned Italian comic trio EsseGesse. In the original stories, Miki is a remarkably young but capable ranger who earns the rank of captain after successfully completing numerous missions in the Nevada frontier. Despite his youth, he becomes a respected leader among the rangers while continuing to face the dangers of the American West.

The series blends adventure, humor, and classic western storytelling. Miki is accompanied by a memorable supporting cast, including his fiancée Susy, the daughter of the fort’s commandant, and his two loyal companions: the cheerful and resourceful Doppio Rhum (Double Rum) and the eccentric Dottor Salasso (Doctor Bloodletting). Together, they participate in missions involving outlaws, frontier conflicts, and various adventures typical of the golden age of European western comics.

This Turkish edition begins directly with the first story from the original Italian series, titled Il Ranger del Nevada. However, while the interior narrative follows the source material, the cover artwork differs significantly from the Italian original. The cover for this Turkish release was newly illustrated by Turkish artist Aslan Şükür, making it visually distinct from the original Capitan Miki Issue #1 cover published in Italy.

Because of this unique cover artwork and the limited seven-issue run of the Sabah Gazetesi edition, the series has become particularly interesting for collectors of Turkish comics. It represents a localized adaptation of a classic Italian western comic, combining original European storytelling with a uniquely Turkish visual presentation on the cover.
