Turkish Military Map - Caucasus Front in WWI (Kars Region, November 1914)

Description:
A large-format Turkish military map titled “Büyük Harbde Kafkas Cephesi”, authored by Erkan-ı Harp Miralay Baki and published by the Istanbul Military Press (Askeri Matbaa) in 1932.

The map, measuring 68 × 50.5 cm, was produced as part of a military educational volume for officer training in the early Republic. It depicts the situation on the Caucasus Front during World War I, specifically showing the positions of the Ottoman and Russian armies near the Kars border region on 2 Teşrin (November) 1914, evening.

This map is not only a valuable record of the Caucasus Campaign a major WWI theater of operations between the Ottoman and Russian Empires but also an important artifact of Republic-era military historiography. Notably, it carries a watermark (filigran) reading “Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Hükûmeti”, which further enhances its rarity and provenance.

Originally bound in a military textbook, the map shows fold lines from its placement.
