Groo the Wanderer #7 1989 Turkish Comic Turkey cover #13
Groo – Issue #7 – Alfa Yayınları Turkish Edition (1989)
Description:
This is Issue #7 of the Turkish Groo Series published by Alfa Yayınları in 1989. The Series consisted of a total of 7 issues and was printed in Turkish in black and white, marking this issue as the final installment of the short-lived Turkish run.
Groo the Wanderer, created by Sergio Aragonés, emerged in the early 1980s as one of the most recognizable parody characters in modern comics. A satirical response to the sword-and-sorcery boom particularly the popularity of Conan the Barbarian Groo is defined by absurd heroics, exaggerated violence, and layered visual humor. Aragonés’ signature style is renowned for its intricate backgrounds and densely packed panels filled with secondary jokes and visual gags.
As with the other issues in the Alfa Yayınları Series, the Turkish edition was reproduced in black and white using a simplified transfer method that primarily emphasized foreground figures, resulting in a reduction of the original artwork’s detailed background elements. This production approach significantly altered the visual richness of the original material and contributed to the Series ending after 7 issues.
Issue #7 features a cover taken from Groo the Wanderer issue #13 published by Marvel/Epic Comics. Unlike some earlier issues, this volume does not include the Gürhan Doğaç Conan parody; instead, it contains a Groo-themed puzzle feature, adding a playful and interactive element to the publication.
