Hey Music World – “Paul McCartney” – Issue #3, September 27, 1982 – Free Supplement – Turkish Edition

Description:

Hey was a popular Turkish weekly music, cinema, and youth magazine first published in 1970. It became well known for its coverage of Turkish and international artists, pop and rock music, and regular music charts based on record sales and radio airplay. Hey Müzik Dünyası was a free supplement to the main magazine, offering additional music news, artist profiles, and features for followers of international music.

This Turkish-language issue, dated September 27, 1982, is the third issue of Hey Müzik Dünyası and features Paul McCartney, the legendary singer, songwriter, and former member of The Beatles. The cover features an illustration of McCartney by Turkish artist Sezar, giving the issue a distinctive locally produced design that adds interest for collectors of vintage Turkish music publications and Beatles memorabilia.

Inside, the magazine covers the growing popularity of British funk and soul group Imagination and the success of American all-female rock band The Go-Go’s. Other reports include Peter Gabriel’s return to Genesis for a one-off concert and news of a collaboration between Olivia Newton-John and Cliff Richard in London. The issue also features a portrait of singer Kim Wilde exploring her astrological characteristics, combining international music news with the personality features popular in entertainment magazines of the period.
