Hulk #5 1987 Turkish Comic Turkey cover #22 #132
Hulk – Issue #5 (1987) – Marvel Yayınları
Description:
Hulk Issue #5 is a Turkish black-and-white comic published in 1987 by Marvel Yayınları as part of the 20-issue Hulk series released between 1987 and 1988. As with the other issues in the run, the original color material was published in black and white in Turkey due to the high cost of color printing at the time. The interior artwork was recreated by tracing over the original pages using tracing paper, a production method that resulted in simplified line work and a distinctly localized visual identity.
This issue continues the well-known mismatch between cover art and interior content that characterizes the series. The cover is adapted from Hulk Vol. 1 #22, while the interior stories are unrelated to the cover illustration. Inside, the issue includes the Hulk stories Şeytan Üçgeni and Hydra’nın Elinde, the latter originating from Hulk #132. Both stories feature standalone adventures of Hulk presented outside their original publication sequence.
In addition to the official Hulk material, Issue #5 also contains Hunk, a parody of Hulk drawn by Turkish artist Yıldırım Örer. The inclusion of this locally created parody, alongside licensed Marvel content, further reflects the hybrid nature of Turkish comic publishing in the late 1980s. For collectors, this issue is notable both for its adapted Marvel stories and for the continued presence of original Turkish parody work by a recurring local artist.
