Iron Man – Issue #4 (1988) – Marvel Yayınları
Description:
Iron Man Issue #4 is a Turkish black-and-white comic published in 1988 by Marvel Yayınları, continuing the five-issue Iron Man series released in Turkey during the late 1980s. As with the other issues in this run, the original Marvel stories were produced in full color but published in black and white in Turkey due to the high cost of color printing. To keep production costs low, the interior pages were recreated by tracing the original artwork onto tracing paper, a widely used method in Turkish comic publishing of the period.
This issue once again follows the established pattern of cover and interior mismatch. The cover artwork is taken from Iron Man #67, selected for its strong visual impact, while the interior includes three consecutive Iron Man stories: Ölümün Keskin Kılıcı from Iron Man #65, Soylu Savaş from Iron Man #66, and Vahşi Freak from Iron Man #67. In addition to these stories, the issue also features Iron Man: Crash by Mike Saenz, a visually distinctive short piece that stands out from the classic narrative-driven Iron Man stories and adds variety to the content.
As part of the Turkish Iron Man series, Issue #4 is a clear example of how Marvel characters such as Iron Man were adapted for local audiences through unconventional editorial choices and cost-driven production techniques. The inclusion of a modern experimental story alongside classic material further enhances the issue’s interest for collectors.
