Judas – Issue #1 (2005) – Demirbaş Yayıncılık

Description:

Judas Issue #1 is a Turkish black-and-white comic published in 2005 by Demirbaş Yayıncılık as part of a short-lived Judas series that ran for a total of three issues. Printed in Turkish and in black and white, this edition represents a later revival of the character in Turkey, following earlier Tay Yayınları and Erimer Bilişim editions. Unlike previous Turkish releases, the covers used in this series differ from the original Italian cover artwork, giving the Demirbaş Yayıncılık run a distinct visual identity.

The character Judas, created by Ennio Missaglia, is a former outlaw named Alan Scott who turns himself in after the death of his girlfriend Vivien during a robbery, earning the name “Judas” and becoming a figure defined by guilt and redemption. Each issue in the Demirbaş Yayıncılık series contains two separate stories rather than a single complete episode.

Issue #1 presents an unusual editorial choice. Instead of publishing the stories in original chronological order, this volume combines two different Italian episodes: Kanlı Soygun and Şahit Aranıyor. These correspond to Calibro 45 (#1) and Il testimone (#12) in the original Italian series. Bringing together the first and twelfth stories into a single Turkish issue reflects a common but curious practice in Turkish comic publishing, where narrative order was often secondary to creating content-rich issues. This unconventional pairing adds to the collectible interest of the Demirbaş Yayıncılık Judas series.
