Lucky Luke - Contre Joss Jamon 1980s Turkish Comic Turkey Tom and Jerry
Red Kit (Lucky Luke – Jos Jomana Karşı) – Nil Yayınevi (1980s)
Description:
This Red Kit comic was published in Turkey by Nil Yayınevi in the 1980s. The series is a Turkish adaptation of the original Belgian Lucky Luke comics created by Morris. In this edition, the character’s name was changed to “Red Kit,” and the comic was printed in Turkish and in black and white. While the original European albums were in full color, the Turkish publisher reduced production costs by having local artists retrace the original illustrations onto acetate sheets, producing a black-and-white edition. This method resulted in artwork that differs visually from the European originals.
A distinctive and collectible feature of this Turkish edition is its cover art. Unlike the original Lucky Luke albums, the covers were newly drawn by Turkish artists, giving the comic a unique visual identity and increasing its appeal among collectors.
This issue, titled Red Kit Jos Jomana Karşı, adapts the story from the original Lucky Luke album Lucky Luke contre Joss Jamon. It follows Red Kit as he confronts the outlaw Joss Jamon, showcasing his cleverness, bravery, and characteristic humor. In addition to the main story, the issue includes an extra short story, Tom ve Ceri (Tom and Jerry), following the common editorial practice of the period to enrich the comic and increase its page count.
