Ottoman Veterinary Transport Certificate – Eskişehir to Istanbul, 1904

Description:
This original Ottoman document, issued by the Ministry of Agriculture (Ziraat Vekâleti), is titled “Hayvanat ve Mevaddinin İmrarına Mahsus Sertifikadır” (Certificate for the Transfer of Animals and Materials). Dated 17 Haziran 1320 (30 June 1904), it authorized the movement of livestock after veterinary inspection.

In the Ottoman Empire, the transfer of animals between cities required official certification to ensure they were free of contagious diseases. Once animals were examined and cleared, this certificate was issued, allowing safe transport across provincial borders.

This certificate was issued to Hafız Osman Efendi, for the transport of one lamb (kuzu). The animal was inspected in Eskişehir, with Eskişehir listed as the departure point and Istanbul as the destination. The document is stamped and signed, underscoring its authenticity and official nature.
