Rakar – Issue #7 – “Cehennemden Gelen Adam” – Turkish Edition, Şakrak (1974)

Description:

This is Issue #7 of the Rakar comic series, published in Turkey in 1974 by Şakrak as part of the weekly booklet-style run that began on July 2, 1974. The Turkish edition consists of a total of 24 issues and was printed in black and white, with Turkish-language text. One of the most distinctive aspects of the Turkish Rakar series is its covers, which were illustrated by Turkish artists. These locally produced covers differ from the original European artwork and significantly enhance the collectible value of the series.

Rakar is a high-adventure Western comic character originally created in Europe in the early 1960s. The character first appeared in the pages of Zembla magazine and was developed for the French publisher Editions Lug by its owner Marcel Navarro. The stories were written by Franco Frescura and illustrated by Ivo Pavone, combining fast-paced action with a strong visual identity.

Set in a Wild West atmosphere, Rakar is a masked vigilante who fights to protect justice and order. Beneath the mask, the man known as Rakar is revealed to be a chief of the Lakota branch of the Sioux people, adding cultural depth and identity to the character beyond the classic Western hero archetype. This issue features the story titled “Cehennemden Gelen Adam” (“The Man from Hell”). As an additional feature, the issue also includes a humorous strip titled “Hop ve Tekir” at the end of the comic, a common practice in Turkish comic publications of the period.
