Silver Surfer #13 1988 Turkish Comic Turkey Vol 2 #1 What If? #37 Marvel Saga #25
Silver Surfer – Issue #13 – Marvel Çizgi Roman Turkish Edition (1988)
Description:
This comic is Issue #13 from the short-lived Turkish Silver Surfer series published by Marvel Çizgi Roman between 1987 and 1988. The series ran for a total of 14 issues and represents one of the earliest Turkish publications dedicated entirely to Marvel’s cosmic hero, the Silver Surfer.
Unlike the original American editions, which were printed in full color, the Turkish version was produced entirely in black and white. This decision was primarily made to reduce production costs. Instead of printing directly from the original color plates, the artwork was carefully retraced using tracing paper techniques, allowing the publisher to reproduce the iconic illustrations in monochrome form. As a result, these editions have a distinctive visual character that differs noticeably from their American counterparts.
The physical format of the Turkish edition is also slightly smaller than the original U.S. comics, reflecting the printing standards commonly used by Turkish comic publishers during the 1980s. Despite these differences, the series holds a unique place in Turkish comic history, introducing readers to the philosophical and cosmic adventures of the Silver Surfer during a time when Marvel material was still relatively rare in the Turkish market.
The cover of this issue is adapted from The Marvel Saga issue #25. Inside, the issue features two notable stories, spanning both Silver Surfer’s solo adventures and Marvel’s alternate reality storytelling.
The first story, “Dehşete Kaçış,” is drawn from Silver Surfer Vol. 2 issue #1 and marks the beginning of a new chapter in the character’s narrative. This story explores themes of cosmic struggle, moral responsibility, and the enduring tension between immense power and ethical choice, hallmark traits of the Silver Surfer’s adventures.
The second story, “Eğer Galactus Silver Surfer’i Norrin Radd’a Döndürseydi,” comes from What If? (1977) issue #37. This alternate reality tale asks the provocative question of what would happen if the Silver Surfer were returned to his original human form, Norrin Radd, after possessing the Power Cosmic. Such “What If?” stories are notable for their creative exploration of Marvel’s established canon, offering collectors a rare glimpse at hypothetical scenarios that expand the character’s mythology.
