Description:

This is an original Ottoman Turkish map of South America, dated 1330 AH (1914 AD), taken from the atlas titled Mükemmel ve Mufassal Coğrafya-yı Umumi Atlası, authored by Mehmed Eşref. The atlas was printed in İstanbul by Artin Asaduryan Matbaası, one of the prominent Armenian-owned printing houses active during the late Ottoman period.

The map is printed in Ottoman Turkish using the Arabic script and presented in original color. Its dimensions are 21.9 × 16.6 cm. The map shows the entire South American continent, including present-day Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and many other regions of the continent.

Produced on the eve of the First World War, this map reflects the Ottoman Empire’s global geographical awareness and its effort to present comprehensive world geography to Ottoman readers. The inclusion of the entire South American continent demonstrates the atlas’s international scope and educational purpose.
