Spider-Man – Issue #170 – 1994 – Bilka Yayınları Turkish Edition

Description:

This comic is Issue #170 from the Spider-Man series published in Turkey by Bilka Yayınları between 1983 and 1995. Running for a total of 183 issues, this series remains one of the most comprehensive Turkish print runs for Marvel’s iconic web-slinger. Though the original American comics were in full color, these Turkish editions were printed entirely in black and white due to production costs. Turkish artists retraced the original artwork on acetate sheets, creating a distinct visual style that differs from the U.S. originals. Many covers were also uniquely illustrated by Turkish artists, providing additional collectible value.

This issue, published in 1994, features a cover drawn by a Turkish artist and adapted from Web of SM #68 (mirrored), continuing Bilka’s tradition of reinterpreting original Marvel covers for the Turkish audience.

The issue contains five major stories, highlighting a mix of action, suspense, and character-driven drama. It begins with “Sen Bir Hiçsin” (Spectacular SM #204 – Death by Tombstone Part 1: “Takeover!”), continues with “Kimsin Sen” (Spectacular SM #205 – Death by Tombstone Part 2: “Search and Destroy”), followed by “İşin Bitti” (Spectacular SM #206 – Death by Tombstone The Conclusion: “Fatal Desire!”), “Vahşi Ayı” (Amazing SM #139 – “Day of the Grizzly!”), and concluding with “Biri Kaybedecek!.. Ama Kazanan Kim Olacak?” (Amazing SM #140 – “… And One Will Fall!”). This combination of Spectacular SM and Amazing SM stories offers readers a varied narrative experience, blending Spider-Man’s action-packed adventures with crossover drama and suspense.

Collectors will value this issue for its adapted cover art, inclusion of multiple classic Marvel stories, and the black-and-white reinterpretation that makes Bilka’s editions unique. The issue also showcases Turkish artists’ contributions in maintaining the essence of Marvel storytelling while adding a local visual touch.
