Storia del West Vol #2 Alamo Turkish Comic Turkey #5 #6 #7 #8
West – Volume 2 – #5–8 – Demirbaş Yayıncılık Turkish Edition (2010)
Description:
This book is Volume 2 from the Turkish edition of West published by Demirbaş Yayıncılık between 2010 and 2013. The publisher released the series in a total of thirteen volumes, with each volume compiling four stories from the original Italian comic Storia del West.
Originally titled Storia del West (“History of the West”), the series was created in 1967 by Italian comic authors Gino D'Antonio and Renzo Calegari. The series is widely recognized for its historically grounded storytelling and documentary-like narrative style. Rather than focusing solely on fictional frontier heroes, it presents a detailed and carefully researched chronicle of the American frontier, combining dramatic storytelling with real historical developments.
The central narrative follows the MacDonald family, Irish immigrants whose lives unfold during the turbulent decades of westward expansion in the nineteenth century. Through their experiences, the series explores migration, frontier conflicts, and the transformation of the western territories as settlers pushed into new and often dangerous lands.
Throughout the broader storyline, fictional events intersect with appearances by legendary figures of the American West, including Wild Bill Hickok, Buffalo Bill, Calamity Jane, George Armstrong Custer, Wyatt Earp, and Kit Carson. These historical figures help anchor the fictional narrative within real events, reinforcing the series’ reputation as one of the most historically ambitious western comics produced in Europe.
This second Turkish volume collects stories #5 through #8 from the original series. The volume opens with Alamo (Alamo), focusing on one of the most iconic historical events of the American frontier and its dramatic consequences. The story continues with Comancheros! (I comancheros!), exploring the dangerous world of frontier smugglers and traders operating between hostile territories.
The narrative then proceeds with Askerler (Soldati), which shifts attention to the role of military forces during the expansion into western territories and the tensions that arise between settlers, soldiers, and native populations. The final story in the volume, Kervan (La carovana), highlights the perilous journeys of wagon caravans traveling across vast and often hostile landscapes, a defining experience of westward migration.
As with other editions of the series released by Demirbaş Yayıncılık, the book is printed in black and white and follows the classic European comic presentation style. By collecting four original stories in each volume, this edition offers readers a substantial portion of the historical narrative in a single book while preserving the structure of the original Italian storytelling.
