Superman – Volume #18 – TekOfset A.Ş. Turkish Collected Edition (1980/1981)

Description:

This collected volume is part of the Turkish Superman series originally published weekly by TekOfset A.Ş. between 1979 and 1980. A total of 56 individual issues were released, later compiled into approximately 20 collected volumes. In addition to Superman stories, the series also featured adventures of Superboy, Supergirl, and the Legion of the Super-Heroes, offering a broader representation of the DC Universe.

One of the most distinctive aspects of this series is its cover artwork. All covers were uniquely illustrated by Turkish artists, making them different from the original American editions and especially appealing to collectors. Although the original comics were printed in color in the United States, this Turkish edition was produced in black and white due to high production costs at the time.

This Volume #18, likely published around 1980 or 1981, features a cover illustrated by a Turkish artist. The volume includes Issues #51, #52, and #53 of the original weekly series.

Issue #51 (cover based on Superman (1939) #338) includes “Luthor’un Son Durağı” (Action Comics #510), “Düşmanla İşbirliği” (Action Comics #511), “Angela Projesi” (Action Comics #512), “Clark Kent İllizyonist” (Action Comics #382), and “Korkunç Gösteri” (Superman #350), offering a dense collection of Action Comics and Superman stories.

Issue #52 (cover based on Superman (1939) #330) continues with “Korkunç Gösteri” (Superman #350), “Dokuz Yüzlü Düşman” (Superman #351), “Yazgı” (Superman #352), “Ele Geçmeyen Adam” (Superman #285), and “Parazit’in Dönüşü” (Superman #286), combining multiple arcs and classic villain-centered narratives.

Issue #53 (cover illustrated by a Turkish artist) features “Parazit’in Dönüşü” (Superman #286), “Kripto’nun Aşkı!” (Superman #287), “Kompux ve Süperman Bombası” (Superman #288), “Hayalet Süvari” (Superman #289), and “Yalancı” (Superman #290), delivering a fast-paced sequence of interconnected and standalone adventures.

This volume stands out for its high story density and continuity, featuring recurring arcs such as “Korkunç Gösteri” and “Parazit’in Dönüşü,” along with appearances by key Superman adversaries and supporting characters, all within a uniquely localized Turkish edition.
