This edition of Tintin – Tintin in America (Tenten Amerika'da) was published in 1998 as a second edition (2nd printing) by Yapı Kredi Yayınları (YKY) and represents a major turning point in the history of Tintin publications in Turkey. Unlike earlier Turkish editions, which were often printed in black and white, shortened, or based on copied artwork, this release was produced in full color, softcover, and at original European album size, closely matching the quality of official international Tintin albums.

Yapı Kredi Yayınları was the first publisher in Turkey to present Tintin in a format fully aligned with European standards both in terms of print quality and faithful translation. The artwork, layout, and proportions were taken directly from the original albums, and the Turkish translation aimed to remain highly loyal to Hergé’s original text and tone. This approach clearly distinguishes YKY’s Tintin editions from earlier Turkish printings, which were frequently altered due to technical and economic constraints.

Between 1994 and 1998, Yapı Kredi Yayınları completed the publication of Tintin’s official 22-album series in Turkish. However, the albums were not released in original chronological order. Instead, the series began with the ninth and tenth adventures, while the first seven adventures were deliberately published at the very end of the run. This publication strategy is often interpreted as a commercial decision, but it also aligns closely with Hergé’s own reservations about his earliest Tintin works.
